Am Throwdown Update

They are starting to trickle out the 4 videos from the AM Throwdown Finals. We will post them here at NDF as they release them. Winners will be announced on Friday. Keep those fingers crossed.

Filmer: Scott Studach
Rider: Joe Bosler

The first 10 minutes into meeting 3 of the teams at the airport. Ricky and I, (Now buzzin pretty hard from the drinks on the flights and opening the SLC airport bar at 8:00AM) Had announced we were mellow smokers and looking to see if anyone of the other teams were thinking the same thing, I swear you could smell the CO Buds from the airport. Delightful! When I say, "announce" I literally mean it in every sense of the word. I believe my exact words on the bus were: "I SMOKE WEED!" Well to put it lightly, the other teams were not having it, and Im pretty sure it even scared the shit out of one of them.

At this point in the trip, we were the only ones of age, so the two of us drinking, well we were going to be some lonely drinkers it was looking like. Later that day, after checking in to the Jail cells for a hotel room, we all met up at the Snowboard Mag crews hotel room (WAY NICER) That is where I met Joe Bosler and Scott Studach; the last team to arrive, for the first time. These guys were my biggest worry from the get go, they were smart enough to take the travel money and use it to drive from Washington to Copper so they could bring their lights, Generator, Dolly, etc. They produce an epic movie every year with the Wildcard crew and those videos are always funny and well done.

Im not sure how, but right off the bat we started to talk about Mt. Hood and Windells. Joe said something like, I helped Tim Windell out a lot last summer I worked there, but unfortunately I wont be returning this summer because rumor has it, Tim said he smoked to much herb. Bringing me to my first reaction: Why is it that all the best coaches and staff members of every snowboard summer camp is asked not to return because they smoke herb and yet 9 times out of 10, their campers will never and have never noticed about their coaches smoking habits off the hill. I dont have enough fingers, thats for sure. My second reaction; He smokes and I am stoked! Something about that mother earth product that really brings people together. After a few minutes with Joe, I started to talk to Scott, you know Filmer talk. It only took a few minutes with Scott for me to know, these two were in my good graces. Through out the rest of the week, we chilled with Joe and Scott on our down time, Hot tubs, Sushi, late night drinking, you name it. We always seemed to run into them while they were out filming at night and they even helped set up and pull the bungee for us on the last night. Now thats the crew I was looking for. We didnt really get a chance to return the favor, but Id say, Joe and Scott are going to be two people I stay in touch with over the years and I will for sure be linking up with them hopefully soon in the Northwest to get some shots. Stoked on these guys, they made the whole trip for us. Win or Lose, These guys rock and I was stoked to compete against them.
